Product Details

AN EXTREMELY SCARCE BOXED .25 (.243) COBRA ARMS COMPANY COBRA STRIKE AIR-RIFLE, serial no. 0186,
produced in very small numbers circa 1985 and manufactured on the same platform as a BSA Mercury model, with blued and sighted 18 1/2in. barrel, plain blued air-chamber with machined dove-tail devoid of any maker's details, wood half-stock with matt black applied finish and ventilated rubber recoil pad, appearing unused in its unlabelled BSA carton with allen key and pellet sample

Provenance: In 1985 no .25 air-rifles were being produced by any major manufacturer, but Cobra Arms International Ltd of Merseyside, England, believed there was a viable market and formed specifically to produce one. Sadly, the enterprise soon ran into problems, mainly due to the lack of available ammunition. Barrels in .25 were not being produced commercially, so the Cobra Strike was actually bored on machinery made for .243 centrefire rifles, Winchesters to be precise. This led to the majority of the already small amount of .25 pellet brands being too tight in the bore and customers soon gave up trying trying to source suitable slugs or bothering with sizers and the like. Today, owners of Cobra Strikes will find that 'Marksman' brand pellets will work best as they are softer lead than most (assuming they can find them of course)
